Other Notes: The USO (United Services Organization) facility was built in 1944 on the corner of Center Street and Federal Street in Brunswick, Maine, to provide a venue for service members to mingle with civilians in a structured recreational environment. This pastel depicts Miss Helen Varney, long time art teacher in the Brunswick schools, teaching finger painting at the USO. Mr. Peladeau is Director Emeritus and former Director of the Farnsworth Art Museum, Rockland, Maine
